Fun, Cozy Engagement Session
I’m going to warn you. Things are about to get really, really corny around here. But, I suppose if you weren’t expecting that already then you might not know where you are… Or you might be new to the Rivas Weddings family. In that case, welcome!
Okay you’ve officially been warned.
Growing up (Kyle’s going to kill me for admitting this), one of my very favorite songs in the world was a Tim McGraw and Faith Hill duet, “It’s Your Love.” I mean, I remember sitting in my little bedroom with purple and teal bedding and posters of Matt Damon on the wall and listening to this song on repeat for hours. And seeing them perform it in concert when I was 17? AMAZING. In my mind, this song was the epitome of what grown-up love was like.
My very favorite part of the song is actually one of the verses. It goes something like this:
“Better than I was
More than I am
And all of this happened
By taking your hand
And who I am now
Is who I wanted to be
And now that we’re together
I’m stronger than ever, I’m happy and free”
I would be 100% lying to you if I said that this wasn’t playing on repeat in my head for the entirety of Haley and Brody’s engagement session. Because within moments of seeing these two together, holding hands, walking down the street I just felt a little bit like I was back in my high school bedroom, listening to Tim and Faith. But instead, I’m a grown-up wedding photographer watching the song come to life in front of my eyes.
Because you guys. Haley and Brody.
She lights up from head to toe when Brody gives her his signature smirk. And when he grabs her hand? She hangs on for dear life. Not because she’s afraid of letting go, but because he is her person. And that one simple motion is so swoon-worthy. They’re literally “stronger than ever, happy and free.”
Normally guys aren’t super into engagement pictures. But Brody? Give all the props to Brody. He gave it everything he had to make sure that Haley was having a great time. This guy is head over heels in love with his girl. And we’re 100% sure that he would follow her anywhere and do anything she asked him to.
Never in a million bajillion years did I ever think this song was made for anyone but Tim and Faith, until Haley and Brody.
