Abe & Jake's Landing Wedding | Matt & Nicole

We’re not going to lie – Matt and Nicole’s Abe & Jake’s Landing Wedding was a hot one!! We were so very excited for this sweet, sweet couple! We originally met January of 2015, and couldn’t believe their wedding day had finally arrived!

Getting Ready | SpringHill Suites, Lawrence

Matt and Nicole decided to make things easy for themselves on their wedding day. They decided to get ready at the same hotel on different floors, just down the street from their reception venue. Since it was so hot on their wedding day we started off with photos of Matt and his groomsmen. When we finished with the guys, we headed to Nicole while Matt finished setting up for their reception. He did all of the design work for their wedding and wanted to double check that every detail was in place. Nicole decided to have her mom help her put her gown on. This made for a few sweet, intimate moments between just the two of them.

First Look | Abe & Jake’s Landing

After taking individual photos of Nicole, it was time for Matt and Nicole’s first look! Normally our brides decide to approach their grooms, but because of Abe and Jake’s unique set up, Matt came down the stairs to meet Nicole. This is one of our favorite moments from the whole day! We LOVE the anticipation on Nicole’s face as Matt came down the stairs! Since it was so hot we spent some time with Matt and Nicole inside at Abe and Jake’s and took full advantage of the gorgeous floor to ceiling windows and brick walls.

Wedding Party Photos | University of Kansas Campus

Knowing from their engagement session that Matt and Nicole like more of an urban feel in their photos we headed to one of Kyle’s favorite spots on KU’s campus with the bridal party. We always love wedding party photos, but Matt and Nicole’s friends were a riot!

Wedding Ceremony | The W Banquet Hall

Matt and Nicole’s held their ceremony at The W Banquet Hall in downtown Lawrence. Once again, Matt’s attention to detail was visible throughout the hall. And, can you believe that he built the backdrop to their ceremony? He found the doors during First Fridays in the West Bottoms and worked with Nicole’s Dad to secure them together. When the doors opened at the back of the room and Nicole walked in the whole room lit up and she completely shone. Matt and Nicole’s ceremony was simple and sweet. Everyone got a good laugh when the wine box that they nailed shut for their unity ceremony wouldn’t close because of one too many wine bottles in the box.

Wedding Reception | Abe & Jake’s

After their ceremony, Matt and Nicole’s guests made their way to Abe and Jake’s for their reception. One of our favorites moments? During the toasts when Matt and Nicole’s parents surprised them with a flash mob of their whole wedding party dancing and singing to them. They were absolutely amazed, and stunned that everyone kept it a secret from them! One of our favorite parts of every summer wedding is sneaking our couple out of their reception for a few minutes to enjoy the sunset. The sunset and river behind Abe & Jake’s didn’t disappoint, and Matt and Nicole were so happy to have a few private moments together to reflect back on their entire day before joining back in the fun.

Congratulations again, Matt and Nicole! We are so incredibly happy for you!!
