April & Dana's Overland Park Courthouse Wedding
We cannot even begin to tell you how thrilled we are to be able to finally share April and Dana’s Overland Park Courthouse wedding with you! We have known these two for years, and were so excited when they got engaged! Several years ago we shot Dana’s brother’s wedding (Hi Layne and Aric!), and were so excited to catch back up with everyone at April and Dana’s wedding.
Lately it seems as if our new motto has been to go with your gut. April and Dana did that exact thing when they cancelled their large Loose Park Rose Garden wedding and instead planned an intimate wedding at the Overland Park Courthouse, only meeting family and friends for photos before a casual dinner.
April spent the morning getting ready with her twin and Mom at The Westin at Crown Center. April’s hair and make-up artist came to her, which made the morning very relaxed and low-key. When it came time to get dressed, April couldn’t have been more excited. She had purchased her wedding gown a few years before Dana proposed, knowing that it was the right gown for her and when she finally got to put it on for her wedding day, you could feel the emotion in the room. Instead of getting ready at a hotel, Dana spent the morning getting ready for the big day at home.
First Look & Wedding Ceremony
April and Dana chose to do a first look before their wedding ceremony. It was such a sweet moment! We love that the most important people in their lives were able to witness it as well. As soon as their first look was over these two headed to the gazebo just outside the Overland Park Courthouse for their ceremony. They took a few moments to calm their nerves by listening to a playlist that Dana had put together specifically for April on their wedding day.
After their ceremony, April and Dana met friends and family at the Rose Garden at Loose Park for formal photos. We managed to steal the happy couple away for a few moments for photos of just the two of them. We very rarely shoot at Loose Park, but when April and Dana requested the infamous twisty tree at the park, we were more than happy to do it. And these two – man! They certainly know how to make our jobs easy!
Dinner & Fun
Instead of throwing a formal reception, April and Dana met their friends and family at Char Bar for some barbecue and games. They finished their evening at Julep, just down the street in Westport for drinks.
Congratulations April and Dana – we are so happy for you both!!
