Is it weird that we’re thankful for Google, of all things? We know. It’s random. Believe it or not, that’s what brought us together with Carla and Stephen. Two of the most laid back people we’ve met. With the very best accents. And all the love in the world for their sweet dog Izzy.
You see, Carla and Stephen met in college at Virginia Tech. They were both in the engineering program and had a few similar questions. Lots of friends in common, and eventually, they came together and went on their first date. And the rest, is pretty much history. After graduation Stephen got a job in Kansas City and moved halfway across the country. For a few months, these two kept up their long-distance relationship. Until Carla got a job in Kansas City and came to join Stephen.
A few months later, they adopted Izzy. Now, Kansas City and crazy Izzy fill their hearts. And this is where they’ve made their home. The love these two share and the respect for each other is so, so special. The silly grin and eye roll Carla gives Stephen every time he says something completely crazy, just to make her laugh, is just the sweetest in the world. And the way Stephen looks at Carla? It will burn a whole straight into your heart and makes you want to be a better person.
Virginia Tech will always hold a place in their hearts, especially since it’s where they met and fell in love. They knew immediately they wanted to pay homage to their favorite place in the world in their engagement session. And so we all headed to the West Bottoms to meander and capture some of the great, old architecture and buildings in one of Kansas City’s oldest neighborhoods.

Words can’t even begin to express how excited we are for their wedding this fall in Virginia. We’re so stinking excited to be able to continue to watch their love story, and to document the most important day of their lives.
