Spring Wedding at The Pavilion

W

Well, friends, Tenise and Brandon are married. In fact they’ve officially been married for a month now. And their gorgeous spring wedding at The Pavilion? Nothing short of wonderful. And our very favorite thing about it? It was all 100% completely and utterly them. They didn’t do or include anything because somebody told them they needed to. They didn’t try to have emotions that weren’t there. Or pretend to act a certain way because they felt they needed to.

A picture taken through two columns of a bride and groom walking together and holding hands on their spring wedding day in Kansas City.

They were 100% them. And we loved every single minute of it. And because of that? Their wedding images are 100% them. So much so, that they had over 400 favorites when they came in to see their images during their wedding reveal. Which might be a new record for us. 🙂

So how did it all play out? What happened? Keep scrolling for our take on their crazy-wonderful day.

Spring Wedding at The Pavilion

Getting Ready | Hilton Garden Inn-Independence, The Pavilion

Wedding mornings are one of our absolute favorite parts of the whole day. Which sounds silly, we know. But we love it for so many reasons, but especially because it’s when we get to meet all of your important people. And we especially loved Tenise and Brandon’s wedding morning.

These two spent their morning not just getting ready with their friends, but also with their four kiddos. As Tenise was getting her hair and make-up done, their girls were also getting their hair and make-up done. And maybe even getting a little bit more glammed up than normal so they would feel extra special on the oh-so-special day. Just after Brandon finished getting himself ready, he also help his boys put their ties and vests on. Oh, and who are we kidding, he helped his groomsmen get dressed too.

We LOVE that they included their kids in such a special part of their morning. And when the bridesmaids and groomsmen got their gifts? The kids got gifts from their parents too. 🙂

First Look | Unity Village

This is Tenise and Brandon’s place. The place where he first told her he loved her. The place where he proposed to her. And the place where they of course wanted to have their first look and wedding pictures taken. You know we were down. As most first looks happen, Brandon arrived first on the scene, eagerly awaiting Tenise’s arrival. And when we told him that she was finally coming, and it was time to take his place on the bridge to wait for his bride? A stillness just came over the whole yard. It was quiet, and peacefull. Which, I guess, you might assume since it’s Unity Village. But all of the chaos just seemed to melt away as Tenise approached her groom.

Their first look was so intimate and sweet, and we’re so glad they were able to do it in a location that meant so much to the two of them.

Wedding Party Pictures & Portraits | Unity Village

And of course, after their first look these two lovebirds got bombarded by their amazing wedding party and family. And since all of their kiddos were in the wedding party as junior bridesmaids and groomsmen, it meant we got to take photos of everyone in this special place. After some orneriness from Brandon’s groomsmen, and silliness from Tenise’s bridesmaids, we sent the big group on their way.

Why? So we could steal a few minutes with just our bride and groom, of course. But if we’re being honest we didn’t want to be selfish with our time with them. We just wanted them to have a few quiet minutes together on their wedding day too.

Wedding Ceremony | The Pavilion Event Space

Have you ever been in a wedding? If you have, you know that from the minute you get dressed the whole day just flies by. Before we all knew it, we were back at The Pavilion freshening up and getting lined up to walk down the aisle. Well, Kyle and I didn’t walk down the aisle. But you know what I mean.

The minutes before a wedding ceremony are always a little crazy. Attendants are running around like crazy, touching up make-up, downing drinks, putting band-aids over shoe blisters, so on and so forth.

Just before their ceremony, Tenise was in the bridal room of The Pavilion with all of her best girls. As the moment approached, sweet Sadie suddenly got nervous to walk down the aisle. One of my favorite moments from the whole day was when Tenise pulled Sadie on to her lap to comfort her and wipe away her tears. She didn’t care that Brandon was already waiting for her at the end of the aisle, or that her guests might be getting sun burnt in the bright spring sun. At that moment, all that mattered was helping Sadie feel better.

Once Sadie’s tears were wiped away, the ladies finally started to make their way down the aisle. Standing back with Tenise and watching her take it all in was just a magical moment. And when she finally got to walk down the aisle to the love of her life? Just amazing. Especially since so many of their family members and friends got to be in attendance, front and center.

Wedding Reception | The Pavilion Event Space

After saying their sweet, heartfelt vows you better believe it was party time. And with all of the amazing décor and up-lighting The Pavilion provides? Tenise and Brandon had one hell of a party. So much dancing. So many heartfelt emotions, and so much fun. You know it’s a good party when the venue staff decides to start dancing too!

Tenise and Brandon ended their night with just a little bit more quiet time for the two of them, outside, in the open-air chapel, with everything lit up purple. Their color. End of the night shots are some of our favorites. For the simple reason that it gives our brides and grooms a few minutes away from everyone to just be close, soak it all in, and reminisce about their whole wedding day.
