Rainy Fall Wedding at The Bowery

You know how they say that rain is good luck on your wedding day? Well. Let’s just say that Barbie and Spencer might just be the luckiest people in the entire world. And that luck is going to be on their side and live on in their families for GENERATIONS to come. Because friends….

It absolutely POURED on their wedding day.

Unlike we’ve ever seen it rain before. And we don’t say that lightly, because we’ve seen it rain on wedding days multiple times before. However not like this. Not so much rain that the inside, even with the lights on, was so, so dark. Or so much that we couldn’t even find 15 minutes outside at the gorgeous arbor to take a few formal family photos. Definitely not so much that the wedding cake got rained on, despite the tent. And did we mention the pond at their venue turned from a nice, picturesque pond into a thundering river, completely separating their tented reception from the rest of the venue? Because that happened too. Our shoes and socks got so wet we both shot part of their reception barefoot.

But you know what? Through it all, Barbie and Spencer kept level heads.

They focused on exactly the reason that they and all of their VIPs had gathered at The Bowery. For each other and their wedding ceremony, of course. 🙂 Their first look was full of fun and laughter and lots of dress twirling. Ninja kicks, dance parties and tickle fights. You guys. It was the best.

And yes, we said NINJA KICKS. 🙂

Barbie and Spencer’s planned outdoor ceremony may have gotten moved inside. But these two? Exchanged their vows and rings completely and utterly surrounded by their friends and family with just as much love and excitement and enthusiasm as if they were outside.

And you 100% better believe their reception was one hell of a party.

Complete with one of the best cake smashes we’ve ever seen with Spencer’s groomsmen cheering on from across the tent. And we definitely won’t forget  their beautiful, funky, totally Barbie and Spencer first dance complete with blow-up guitars. Drunken shenanigans, unexpected river crossings, and a late-night, dance in the rain session rounded out their best day ever.

Barbie and Spencer, thank you, so, SO much for letting us capture your big day. We had an absolutely wonderful, adventurous, and fun-filled day with you both and all of your VIPs. We know you had other expectations, but we’re pretty sure your big day turned out exactly how it was supposed to.
