October Black Tie Wedding at The Madrid

P

Picture this, friends. The most beautiful, most perfect, can’t-dream-anything-up-better-than-this fall day. There’s not a cloud in the sky, all of their family and friends are in town, all of the details have been taken care of, and vows have been written. It’s wedding day for two lovebirds that have been planning, and replanning their wedding for a few years now. It’s time for their best day ever. And you know what?

A formal portrait of a bride and groom standing at the top of a set of stone stairs at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City on their fall wedding day.

Chloe and John-Michael had their very special, most perfect, best day ever October black tie wedding at The Madrid.

These two had a helluva day. And they didn’t skip a step or miss a beat when it came to planning their most perfect wedding day ever. Chloe and John-Michael thought of absolutely everything: the most perfect gifts for their wedding party members, transportation for their wedding guests from the hotel to the ceremony to their reception, and then back again. They remembered snacks for all of their friends for their big day, they wrote the most meaningful vows for each other, and they even remembered the key to throwing a killer reception: hiring an amazing dj that knows how to mix AND handing glow sticks out on the dance floor.

These two got to spend their wedding mornings separate from each other, but surrounded by alllll of their VIPs from near and far, getting hair and makeup done for Chloe and the ladies, and playing laser tag for John-Michael and the guys. And they planned their most dreamy first look: overlooking the Kansas City skyline at Liberty Memorial. They laughed and laughed, and laughed some more with their wedding party that included all of their siblings, and even got to enjoy a few quiet moments together, reflecting on their morning and everything yet to come.

And when it came time to say “I do?”

Chloe and John-Michael had the most beautiful wedding ceremony, even with a last-minute venue change 2 months before their big wedding day. Chloe’s pastor officiated their ceremony, which just made it that more meaningful for everyone in attendance. AND Chloe and John-Michael wrote their own vows to exchange, which actually brought unexpected tears to both of their eyes. They sealed the deal with a kiss, a happy walk back up the aisle, and by dancing in the side street at sunset, reveling in that new, newlywed feeling.

Before they even knew what was happening, John-Michael and Chloe were being introduced at their reception at The Madrid.

Family and friends from as close as Overland Park and as far as Alaska cheering them on. Chloe’s sister gave the sweetest toast to her little sister, while John-Michael’s brother roasted him, just a little, to make things entertaining. And Chloe’s dad gave the most heartfelt speech to his girl, sharing with everyone one of his favorite Chloe memories, and when he knew that John-Michael was going to be sticking around for a while.

After they cut their cake, it was time for a surprise.

Chloe ran off to “the bathroom,” and told John-Michael to meet her outside under the marquee for a few photos. Little did John-Michael know that Chloe was changing into her surprise, super sparkly reception dress. Saying that John-Michael was blown away is an understatement, he just couldn’t get over the surprise that his beautiful bride pulled off. After spending a few minutes loving on each other outside under the marquee, Chloe and John-Michael were re-introduced to their reception just in time for their first dance.

For the last few months, these two lovebirds had been practicing their choreographed first dance like crazy, and they absolutely nailed it on the dance floor.

After dancing with their parents, and all of the other married couples, it was time to start the party. We’re not going to lie, we were a little worried about the level of “partying” that was going to happen since their dance floor was only going to be open for a little over an hour. BUT, Chloe, John-Michael, and all of their guests absolutely packed the dancefloor all night long. Their reception started out as a super fun party, then moved to what felt like a great dance party, and ended feeling like an amazing, invite-only rave that you only go to once in a lifetime.

These two couldn’t let their dream day end without one last, private dance for just the two of them while all of their guests lined up outside for the best sparkler exit ever.

Best day ever? We’re pretty sure it’s safe to say “yes!”
