Modern Downtown Kansas City Wedding
Did anyone else grow up thinking that “grown-up love” was like something out of a John Mayer song? Or was that just me? Please tell me I’m not alone out there (otherwise that’s suuuuppper embarrassing).
Well here’s the thing. Leah and Adam? They could be the stars in any one of those music videos of sappy romantic songs from the early 2000s. Like for real. And their gorgeous, modern, downtown Kansas City wedding day? It might as well have been Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski getting married all over again. It was that romantic and that dreamy and that fun. Like for real. (And if you’re wondering if I stopped writing this to go watch Zack and Kelly’s wedding? You better believe I did. You can find it here. :D)
(PS – how fabulous is Kelly’s short hair bridal look? It seems like everyone always grows their hair out for their wedding, but maybe girlfriend was on to something… :D)
(PPS – also – shouldn’t every wedding day come with a super-corny-music-montage of all the photos of you and your boo from your time together?! We are TOTALLY 100% on board with this idea!)
Anyway. Back to Leah and Adam. Because their wedding day? It was EVERYTHING. And then some. And the very, very best part about it? It was full of all the moments. And emotions. And these two lovebirds? They were surrounded by their very favorite, most loved people all day long, which made things just absolutely perfect.
For real. What a day. Here’s just a look at some of our very favorites from their wedding day.
Modern Downtown Kansas City Wedding
Getting Ready | POSH KC, One Light
Leah and Adam had the most downtown Kansas City, modern, everything done their way wedding that you can imagine. Leah and her girls got their hair and makeup done at POSH KC, in the heart of KC’s Power and Light District. Then they got ready both got ready at home, one of their favorite places in the city.
First Look | One Light
Leah and Adam’s first look? It happened in a penthouse atop One Light overlooking the city they love so much.
Ceremony | Christ Community – Brookside Campus
As Leah’s grandpa walked her down the aisle, Adam broke out into one of the biggest smiles we’ve ever seen on his face. And for good reason. All of the stress and craziness these two went through to plan their wedding in 4 months? It all just melted away as Leah walked towards him. One of our very, very favorite moments from their whole day was watching them light their unity candle. They were just SO EXCITED and put everything they had into this special tradition.
And when their ceremony was over? Leah and Adam exited the church to a flurry of bubbles and the cheering of their friends and family. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
Portraits | The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Liberty Memorial
Until, that is, the wedding party stopped at Liberty Memorial to take a few photos. The romance and excitement just poured into the air all around us as Adam twirled his gorgeous wife under his arm.
And you know, their wedding party did not disappoint when it came to having fun and being silly. I mean, friends, Leah and Adam’s friends literally picked them up, held them horizontally, and played tug of war with them. We’re seriously not making this up. These two loved every single minute of it. Who are we kidding. We did too. 🙂
Reception | The Gallery Event Space
Leah and Adam’s reception at The Gallery was like something out of a modern-day, club loving, fairy tale. Quite literally. Flanking each side of their head table were these massive trees with cherry blossoms. They entered their party to shouts and cheers, and of course, because DJ Ray was involved, the coolest lighting and cold sparks. We LOVE that their wedding party surrounded them as they shared their first dance. The toasts their VIPS gave? You guys. Not a dry eye in the room.
And finally, when all of the formalities and all of the niceties were over, Leah and Adam hit the dance floor with their guests. And when we say hit the dance floor, these two LIT IT UP ALL NIGHT LONG. We’re about 85% sure that Adam didn’t leave it all night long. Except maybe when we pulled him away for their end of the night photos.
Leah, the admitted DJ groupie that she is (Adam’s words, not ours), even got to spin a few songs at her own reception while Ray and his team lit everything up. You guys there were massive glow sticks and strobe lights, cold sparks (like inside fireworks), and allll the dancing allll night long.
When it was all said and done and time to go home?
These two downtown KC loving lovebirds exited their wedding reception under an arc of sparklers, running back and forth on the sidewalk celebrating one last time with all of their people.
Leah and Adam – we can’t thank you two enough for letting us capture your wedding day. We have had an absolute BLAST getting to know you both over the last few months and are so, so excited to see where life takes you. We have no doubt that you’re going to have all the fun, and give all the love, no matter what comes your way. Congratulations again, friends. 🙂
