KC Skyline Wedding Sneak Peek

If we’re being honest, most of the weddings that we will have photographed this year have gotten moved because of COVID-19. These two lovebirds are included in that group. But instead of postponing or moving their date to later in the year? Kayla and Scott decided to move their KC skyline wedding day up. To avoid flu season and to hopefully make it easier for all of their VIPs to witness their big day. And while they were at it, they included and adjusted their wedding day to help make sure that everyone in attendance felt “safe” and good about attending their big day. 

They cut their guest list, clustered seating during their ceremony, had an outside cocktail hour, separated dinner tables way out, provided lots of hand sanitizer and masks, and had an outside reception. You know, in front of the gorgeous KC skyline on the roof of The Otten on Main. 

But don’t get us wrong. 

Their day wasn’t wrapped up and all about COVID. Nope, their day was about them, their love, and their families. You see, these two were completely surrounded by family all day long. Whether it was Scott, his brothers and groomsmen hanging out eating Jimmy Johns in the early afternoon or Kayla getting her hair and makeup done at Hello Lovely with her mom and sister, these two didn’t miss a beat. 

It’s so incredibly hard for us to pick a favorite moment from their day. Their sweet, rooftop, KC skyline first look was pretty dang unforgettable. But so were their wedding party photos on the streets of KC getting honked and congratulated by complete strangers. In the moments leading up to their ceremony Kayla and Scott’s nieces and nephews were so excited to “get married” that they could barely contain their excitement. 

And did we mention that Scott’s Dad, Tim, got officiated their wedding? 

Because that happened too. And while every wedding ceremony is oh-so-special, getting to witness Scott’s Dad marry his son and the love of his life was something that we won’t forget soon. Especially with some extra “dad” advice added in. These two chose to attend their cocktail hour where they got to greet all of their guests and VIPS before having a super yummy, romantic dinner with plenty of seating. 

Man, friends. We haven’t even gotten to Kayla and Scott’s reception. Where they did a swing dance for their first dance. Or where Scott’s twin brother totally rolled him under the bus in his best man speech. Not to mention all of the air guitar, dancing and fun everyone had on the rooftop, overlooking the KC skyline while KC Flo rocked everyone’s socks off.
