Inside Summer Wedding at Terrace on Grand in Kansas City

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve seen a lot of people get married over the years. And, we have a favorite moment from each wedding day from the last 9 years. We say it time and time again; no two couples are ever the same. As a result, no two weddings are ever the same. And we absolutely LOVE it! Tony and Dorothy’s summer wedding at Terrace on Grand is no different.

We’ve had the pleasure of knowing this crazy talented couple for years, and were so excited when they asked us to create their wedding images! One of the things we were most excited about was all of the unique musical performances that took place during their wedding ceremony! Tony and Dorothy are both professional musicians, and are very, very talented. They have very, very talented friends, and we got to meet so many of them at their wedding! Here’s just a peek into their wedding day!

Getting Ready Location | Barbers of Westport & The Crowne Plaza Kansas City

Tony and his groomsmen started their day by getting shaves at the Westport Shave Shop. A few of our grooms have done this, and we always love it when they decide to! It’s such a great way to have fun with friends and dads before everything from the big day starts to take place. While the guys were getting shaves, Dorothy and her friends and family were getting ready for the day at The Crowne Plaza in downtown Kansas City. With so many of her good friends in from out of town, Dorothy was surrounded by loved ones and lots of laughter. There’s no better way to start a wedding day!

First Look | Kansas City’s Union Station

Since they were getting married and having their ceremony in the same place, Toy and Dorothy decided to do a First Look. They knew their wedding day was going to be hot, and asked for a nice, cool spot for their meeting. The balcony at Union Station was a perfect fit for their personalities, and what they wanted to see from their wedding day images. We LOVE first looks, but especially this one!

Bridal & Wedding Party Pictures | Kansas City’s Union Station

Tony and Dorothy’s wedding party met us at Union Station for pictures. We had SO much fun with this group! Most of their bridal party came in from out of town, so their photo session was full of catching up and laughter. While we’ve photographed in Union Station many times, it’s always been a goal of Kyle’s to create an image with the ceiling in the background. It’s so much easier said than done! To create the beautiful image below, we got special permission to shoot at the top of the staircase in Harvey’s. LOVE IT!

Wedding Ceremony | Terrace on Grand

Tony and Dorothy held their wedding ceremony inside at the Terrace on Grand in downtown Kansas City. Since they knew the August day they chose to get married on would be hot, they were very excited about being able to get married inside. Their ceremony was so unique, and filled with beautiful music! Tony composed a piece for Dorothy for their wedding day that a choir full of their friends performed. It was so beautiful and touching! After their ceremony, the amazing staff at Terrace on Grand flipped the room while Tony and Dorothy hosted a cocktail hour for their friends on the roof.

Wedding Reception | Terrace on Grand

Tony and Dorothy’s reception was filled with more music, Italian Wedding Cookies, and lots of letting loose! We love that they used a baby grand piano as their cake table – it was only fitting! We ended our day with this sweet couple with a few nighttime images on the Terrace roof. Terrace on Grand has SUCH an amazing view of Kansas City’s skyline!
