Diablo Lake Engagement Session | J+P

J

Jamie and Paul are two of the most adventurous people we know. They love anything and everything different and thrilling. They ride motorcycles together, love boating and adventuring, and trying new things. We were so excited when they mentioned to us they wanted to do something different for their engagement session. And, we got even more excited when they sent us photos of the location they wanted to head to: Diablo Lake, Washington. They were absolutely in love with the turquoise water of the lake, and we can’t blame them! And, as an added perk for them, they were going to get to spend a few extra days in Seattle as a mini-vacation before their wedding in October!

We knew that we were in for an adventure when Jamie and Paul suggested heading out of state for their engagement session. But, I’m not sure any of us could have imagined just how much of an adventure awaited us. Do you remember that really rainy, cool week in Kansas City at the beginning of August? That’s the week we headed to Seattle. And we expected the same weather. But, Mother Nature had other plans. We arrived in Seattle and there were record-breaking temperatures near 100! That’s right – in Seattle! One of the reasons Jamie and Paul picked this location was for the cooler weather – we were all so surprised!

The morning of their session we headed into the mountains surrounding Diablo Lake to scout for that afternoon. And, yet again, we were surprised. Why? Well, the air was completely filled with smoke blown down from the wildfires north of Vancouver. And, the biggest bummer of all, was that we could hardly make out the gorgeous turquoise water of Diablo Lake.

But. We were not going to let any of those things get any of us down. After all, if you know us, by now you know that we not only have a plan A, but also plan B, C, D, and E. And in this case, we had to use them all!

We still wound up getting a few images of the beautiful water through the haze, but we’re also absolutely crazy about this gorgeous rocky beach we found surrounded by turquoise water and huge trees. And Jamie and Paul (and us too!) LOVE the images we got to create on the old iron bridge near the beach.

Jamie and Paul – thank you both so much for the wonderful adventure! We are so excited for your upcoming wedding in October!!
