Chief Hosa Lodge Mountainside Wedding
Maren and Kelham. In four simple words, made for each other. Check out the full rundown of their gorgeous Colorado wedding day.
Chief Hosa Lodge Mountainside Wedding
Wedding Morning Festivities
When we arrived at Chief Hosa Lodge early Saturday afternoon, Kelham was already there. While it’s not necessarily a “normal” thing for the groom to be the first one on site, it’s very Kelham. Why was he there so early? He, his best man, and their officiate (both named Ben) were getting ready for wedding day. Not just putting tuxes and ties on. But building and decorating the arbor that Maren and Kelham would exchange vows under. Did we mention that they decorated the arbor with the most gorgeous florals and stained glass circles that Maren and her mom made? Because they did. And of course they were all various shades of purple. 🙂
When Maren arrived, Kelham hustled up the tiny, circular staircase to the upstairs of the lodge so his beautiful bride could get ready and inspect his work. Maren had such a chill afternoon when she arrived at the lodge. Re-writing her vows while drinking some of “grandpa’s wine” with her girls, sharing laugh after laugh. And we can’t even tell you how beautiful she was. With amethyst and crystals in her long, curly hair, her favorite sandals, and her beautiful, beaded gown, we’re pretty sure her mom, Valerie’s face gives it all away when she finally saw Maren all dressed.
First Look
If we’re being honest, things were running a little behind on Maren and Kelham’s wedding day. But, as we assure every couple, nothing is going to happen without the bride and groom. And since everyone in attendance was close family or friends, we’re pretty sure they would have waited all day. One thing they did wait for? Maren and Kelham to share a first look before walking down the aisle. In fact, it was one thing Kelham insisted they could wait on. Surrounded by soaring pine trees and gorgeous, golden prairie grass, Kelham and Maren shared their first look. And it was full of so much emotion and joy that we’re not sure we’ve ever seen another one like it.
Wedding Ceremony
Believe us when we tell you, Maren knows how to make an entrance. When it was ceremony time she and her dad walked down the hillside, through the trees to Kelham. With an audience full of their very closest family and friends who traveled from all across the world to witness it, Kelham greeted her with one of the biggest smiles we’ve seen. Maren and Kelham like different. And they fully embraced that for their wedding day. One of their very best friends officiated, which resulted in an emotion and laughter filled 20 minutes. They exchanged the sweetest, most heartfelt vows. And to top it all off, the incorporated everyone in attendance in their ceremony. For their “unity” ceremony, Maren and Kelham planted a tree. To help nourish the tree (that they would later plant at their home), each family brought a jar of dirt from their home. This tree? Has the strongest roots.
Cocktail Hour + Portraits
After saying their vows and exchanging their rings, Maren and Kelham actually went to their own cocktail hour. With lots of champagne, wine, and snacks, these two laughed and enjoyed their family and friends for a few hours. Only when they were done did we sneak them away for a few mountainside portraits.
Private Dinner
Finally, these two lovebirds finished their day at one of their favorite places in Denver, Guard and Grace. A private dinner with guests is also something that Maren’s brothers did for their weddings. And can we just tell you, that dinner did not disappoint! Take all of the wine, good food, and laughter that you expect, and multiply it by ten and you’ve got Maren and Kelham’s dinner. Add in a few games of hopscotch in the restaurant hallway, hilarious secrets revealed by the best man, and a celebration of Maren’s grandparents’ 65th wedding anniversary, and this is one reception that we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
Congratulations, Maren and Kelham. We are so unbelievably excited to see where life takes you next. And we can’t even begin to thank you enough for letting us capture your gorgeous wedding day. 🙂
