2019 Year in Review

F

First of all. How is the year already over? And can someone please tell us what happened to the second half of 2019? I think we lost track of it sometime in August, and the next thing we knew we were ringing in the New Year with the corgis, Ryan Seacrest, and a bottle of champagne.

Secondly, friends, WHAT A YEAR.

We know, we know. Everybody says that. But for real. WHAT A YEAR. What a wonderful, crazy, emotional, laugh-until-you-cry, try-all-the-new-things kind of year. But you know what? As crazy as it was, we wouldn’t trade it for anything at all.

So what happened? And why did it take us until the middle of January to put together our 2019 Year in Review? Well, friends. We’ve been a little caught up with things. Here’s a super-quick rundown of 2019 for you, by the number.

Woof. No wonder we’re tired.

Last year? We each set out with our own goals. Not that we set for each other, but that we had for the whole year. We wanted to focus more on our couples and their emotions. On not quarterbacking/planning/running our couples wedding days so we could focus on our job, photographing things as they unfold. We wanted to be better about using available light, not just off camera flash. In fact – we used more natural light this year than we ever have before. In the history of our forever.

We wanted to focus on the feels.

On how your wedding days felt and how we could create that feeling in our cameras. Another focus? Your relationships. Not just with your honey, but with your VIPS, the people you surrounded yourselves with on your day. For the first time ever we took turns creating portraits with you so while one of us was shooting, the other could come up with the next thing to make more efficient use of our time.

And, for the first time ever, we also spent allll day with you. If we’re being honest? You all made time fly. An 18 hour wedding day has never gone by so fast for us.

Friends. We can’t even begin to thank you for the 2019 that you gave us.

You let us laugh with you, and cry with you. Made us fall in love with our “jobs” and each other all over again. And really, truly (sometimes drunkenly) 100% accepted us for who we are as artists, photographers, and humans. And without a doubt, you continuously encouraged us to keep chasing our dreams and to be who we want to be, no matter what the rest of the world or wedding industry says.

So. Where do we go from here?

Well, we’ve rounded up some of our very favorite moments our year, and your moments. And when that number was around 500? Well…. We had to cut it down to just 1 from everyone. But here they are.

Here’s to you, crazy, wonderful, amazing, sweet friends.
