2016 Year-End Review | Kansas City Photographers

I

I think that it’s safe to say that 2016 has been one heck of a year. In many ways, shapes, and forms. We couldn’t agree more. 2016 has by far been one of the busiest, best, most humbling years that we have ever had. Today we thought we would take a few minutes to look back at this crazy, crazy year.

Non-Profits

This year we had the honor of working with so many fantastic non-profits and charities. It’s so, so important to us to give back to the community that we live and participate in. One of our favorite ways to do this is by donating our time to some of Kansas City’s best organizations. These groups are all fantastic in their own way and all hold a special place in our heart. We are so excited to be able to say that we gave over 15% of our total revenue this year to some of Kansas City’s best non-profit groups.

Corporate Events

We also had the privilege of working with some fantastic companies in Kansas City. We covered their events, celebrations, charitable contributions, and headshots. Our year would not have been what it was without having the opportunity to work with the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce on a consistent basis covering events for them from their great Chiefs Luncheon, to the Kansas City Neighborhood Academy Grand Opening, to their Tobacco 21 Events.

We are so honored that InTouch entrusted us to cover everything for them from their annual holiday party at The Midland, to events for their #AllIn Campaign both in Kansas City and Chicago, and multiple other events for them.

From working with UMKC on their Spring Opera to Jazz Night, to WELD, Sprint and others, it’s been one heck of a year!

This year we even had the opportunity to work with The Big Reveal at each of their venue stops! Not only did we get to capture all of the booths, but we also were able to do a mini-bridal shoot at each location.

And we can’t forget the one senior session that we did this year! Meet the beautiful, talented, one-of-a-kind Maggie.

Kansas City Wedding Photography

2016 was also a record year for us when it comes to our wedding and engagement clients. We shot our 100th wedding this year. This is absolutely crazy for us to think about, and we can’t believe that we’ve been doing this long enough to hit this number. We are so blessed and honored to document 19 weddings this year. 19! And to be completely honest with you, that’s all that we’re planning on taking next year so we can keep giving our couples as much 1:1 attention as we can. Of those 19, we headed to Jamaica with Danielle and Kevin, and Orlando with Melanie and Jim. Here are just a few of our favorites from all of our very favorite newlyweds this year.

In addition to all of our wedding couples, we are also so, so grateful for the opportunity to create engagement images 39 newly engaged couples this year. Our engagement sessions took us everywhere from Nashville to Colorado (3 times) to the caves of central Missouri, to the brick streets of Hermann Missouri. We photographed couples on mountaintops in the snow, in caves, in historical buildings that we’ve had all to ourselves, on boats, in creeks, in Chicago, on the verge of getting rained out. We’ve been sprayed with champagne, traipsing through castle ruins, and hit with flour during an engagement session in a bakery.

And of course, our year wouldn’t be complete without capturing that moment that starts it all! Congratulations again on your engagement, Ryan and Christa!

This year wouldn’t have been what it was without the amazing Justen Hong and team from Visual Lure. Justen helped us create a completely new look, feel, and brand for Rivas Photography this year, but he was also an amazing friend and mentor.  He and his team custom-built our whole website from the ground up. If you know how picky Kyle is, you know how much of a task that was! Thank you so much Justen!!

We can’t even begin to tell you how much fun we had this year having new adventures and creating beautiful works of art for you. It’s been an absolute blast! We can’t thank each and every one of you enough for entrusting us with your memories. You are the reason that we keep doing what we do. We are beyond gracious that time again, you ask us to document the most precious moments of your life.

We hope you all enjoy the rest of your 2016, and can’t wait to see you in 2017!!!
