10 Years

1

10. Ten is the number of hours that most of our couples book us for on their wedding day. It’s approximately how many hours it takes us to complete a wedding once we stop shooting. And it’s about the number of times that we get to see our amazing couples before their wedding day. Ten is a magical number. It’s not necessarily always our favorite number, but this year it is.

Why? Two reasons. This year is our (mine and Kyle’s) tenth anniversary. We can’t even believe it’s been that long! That alone makes it oh-so-special. But that’s not the only reason. This year is also the tenth anniversary of the very first wedding that we ever photographed together. Sure, we had both worked many weddings on our own before then. But, together? This is something to celebrate.

(Warning – we’re totally wearing our hearts on our sleeves for this one. Not that that’s anything new.)

Over the ten years that we’ve been doing this, we’ve worked with hundreds of you. Had the pleasure of meeting thousands of your loved ones, friends, family, kids and pets. You all have gone on to have babies, form families, start new careers and take amazing trips. Get masters degrees and doctorates. Move across the country and world to follow your dreams. You’ve gotten deployed, left your day-jobs to follow your real dreams and had oh-so-many adventures. You’ve laughed and celebrated little and big victories alike. Some of you have cried undeserved tears and fought battles that we wouldn’t wish on anyone. And all along, you’ve continued to be on our minds and to inspire us.

What you may not realize, especially those of you that we may not have seen in years, is that every single one of you has left a footprint on our hearts. There’s not one of your stories that we’ve ever forgotten, or ever stopped thinking about. You’ve made us better photographers, but even more than that, you’ve made us better human beings. You’ve inspired us to dream bigger, work harder and love more than we ever thought possible.

So. During this, our tenth year of business and our tenth year of togetherness, we’re having a little celebration for ourselves. But we’re having a bigger celebration for you. Each and every one of you. And although our web guy might have strong words after we post all of these, we want to celebrate each and every single one of you that have come into our lives and left us better off because of it.

Thank you, friends. For trusting us with your biggest moments. For letting us into your lives, into your family’s lives, and into your hearts. But most of all, for letting us capture those sweet, sweet moments that your families will look at and treasure years from now. We couldn’t and wouldn’t do any of this without you, and for that, we are ever grateful.

Now. Do us a favor. Go do a celebratory dance. Give your loved ones big hugs. And be sure to check back to see what’s in store for the next 10 years.

PS – Obscure music reference alert. I’m not going to lie. Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” may or may not be on repeat in my head. Why am I telling you that? Because it’s a blast from the past, and I don’t want to be the only one walking around with it stuck in my head thinking sappy thoughts. You’re welcome.. 🙂
