We’ve said it time and time again that we get “attached” to the couples that we get to work with. And while we always excitedly look forward to each and every wedding, Melissa and Kolton’s wedding day is one that we’ve been waiting for anxiously. Many of you know Melissa as one of our amazing assistants. We’ve had the pleasure of working with her for well over 5 years now, and she’s essentially family. And now she’s married!! Here’s just a look at some of our favorites from her magical wedding day!
Getting Ready | The Hampton Inn – Downtown Kansas City
Kolton decided (and Melissa agreed) to stay out of the spotlight on the morning of their wedding. He and his groomsmen got ready and dressed in the comfort of his own home! Meanwhile, Melissa, her bridesmaids, and family got ready in downtown Kansas City, just a few blocks from where she would see her groom for the first time.
First Look | Lyric Opera
Like many of our couples, Melissa and Kolton weren’t sure if they wanted to do a first look. Ultimately they decided they on doing one because they knew they wanted a few moments to just themselves before the fun craziness of their day took over. For years Melissa has been in love with the architecture of the “old” Lyric Opera building, and she was so excited to do their first look there! We LOVED watching these two relish in their first few moments together. Exchanging small gifts and laughing with each other is something they’ll never forget from their wedding day.
Kansas City Wedding Party Pictures | Barney Allis Plaza
Melissa and Kolton’s wedding party met us at the Lyric and from there we made our way a few blocks down to Barney Allis Plaza. With the gorgeous blue skies and sun their wedding party had so much fun with each other. Something Melissa and Kolton credit to their wedding party chemistry? Getting everyone together a few times before the wedding so they all knew each other already.
KC Winter Wedding Ceremony | Liberty Christian Church
Melissa and Kolton’s evening ceremony was so sweet and intimate. Surrounded by all of their family and friends, these two said their vows and did their unity ceremony. They knew that for their ceremony they wanted to do something that signified two becoming one, but didn’t want to go the route of a traditional candle or sand. Since Kolton is a scientist, they came up with the idea of an “experiment” during their ceremony. Pouring two different liquids together that when combined, glowed!
Wedding Reception | The Montgomery Event Space
After their ceremony while their guests enjoyed cocktail hour, Melissa and Kolton let us steal them away for a few last moments. These two met at William Jewell College in Liberty, and the historic campus was the perfect spot to stop for a few more images.
Once they joined their guests at The Montgomery, more fun followed. Melissa’s maid of honor and sister, toasted her sister with a song that she had written for her and Kolton. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. And, to add more magic to their evening, Melissa and Kolton danced to a song that Kolton wrote for Melissa. Talk about intimate!
Melissa and Kolton – from the very bottom of our hearts thank you so much for letting us create your wedding day images! We are so, so happy for you and cannot wait to see where life takes you!!
