Have we ever told you how much we love color? Not just nice, pretty color. Bold, vibrant, in-your-face color. It’s one of the reasons that we light our images the way we do. It’s also one of the things that we suggest our couples keep in mind when dressing for their engagement session. No, we don’t suggest picking out the brightest color you can find. Our suggestion? Think about what colors you’re consistently drawn to and how your home is decorated.
Every now and again this earns us a funny look, which is completely okay. The main reason we suggest thinking about the colors you’re drawn to and how you decorate your home is so the images we’ll create for you will fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. We don’t want to create something for you that doesn’t fit with how you live your life.
Kailey and Eric are a great example. When we were trying to narrow down locations for these two we threw all kinds of options around. We kept coming back (and they agreed) to something modern and bold that incorporates downtown. They live in a loft in downtown Omaha and love the Kansas City skyline. We wanted to be sure that their imagery was going to fit in with their home easily. They love blues. They’re big KU fans. Okay – I think every time we’ve Skyped with them Eric has had on a KU shirt. So – reds and blues with downtown it was.
We always secretly hope for a gorgeous sunset for our couples, but the evening of Kailey and Eric’s engagement session was one for the record books. To be completely honest with you, most of the sunset images were taken on the way back to our cars. We were so, so happy that Kailey and Eric loved their engagement images. So much so, that they decided to make several wall portraits and create a collage for their living room.
Vibrant Downtown Kansas City Engagement Session
Thank you so much for letting us create your engagement images, Kailey and Eric! Congratulations on your engagement – we are SO happy for you both!
