SportingKC vs Whitecaps | MLS Photographer

Last Saturday night, SportingKC kicked off their home opener against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Children’s Mercy Park. In true SKC fashion, Sporting introductions included plenty of theatrics including canons shooting fire 30 feet up, fireworks and a mini concert. With the stadium lights shut off, players took the field light by spotlights. With smoke from the fireworks clearing, SportingKC’s Dom Dwyer struck first with an incredible 25-yard strike from outside the penalty box only five minutes into the first half. That goal would be later named the MLS Goal of the Week. Dwyer was not done though as in the 41st minute, he would score a second time in the match of an assist from Chance Myers to put SportingKC up 2-0. SportingKC experience one hiccup to their perfect night as Pedro Morales would score on a penalty kick early in the second half but the Whitecaps would never found the equalizer goal and SportingKC won the night 2-1.

Below are a few of my images from the home-opener at SportingKC as they defeated Vancouver 2-1.
