Happy Monday, friends! We hope you had a great weekend! We’re back today with a little bit of happy news after a crazy-emotional weekend for us. As many of you know, one of our goals is to get our couples published. And while we go about that in a variety of ways, one of the ways we do that is by submitting images every now and again to trade magazines. What is a trade magazine? It’s a magazine specifically for photographers. In this case, it’s Shutter Magazine, which also happens to be created and published by photographers. This magazine is such a great educational resource for photographers. In fact, it’s one that we always look forward to receiving each month. (Yes, in print form!) The images and articles included in the magazine are by some of the very best in our industry.

While we don’t submit images every month, we do submit an image when the image call is for something that pertains to what we create. The most recent issue of Shutter Magazine focused on branding. As many of you know, almost three years ago now, we rebranded to Rivas Photography (you can read more about that here). Consequently, our amazing logo designer and website builder, Justen Hong from Visual Lure, is a frequent contributor to Shutter Magazine. He’s also one of the great supporters of our brand and has helped us create what Rivas Photography is today.

So, when the image call came for images that best reflect your brand to be included in the November issue, we submitted a few. Now, can we just tell you for a minute, how many AMAZING photographers are featured in this magazine every month? Industry leaders, friends. Most of all, some of the photographers that we look up to the most. Including the studio that we’ll be trusting with our own wedding. So, while we were very confident in our work, there are always A TON of amazing photographers submitting their images. As a result, we never expect to get published automatically.

Well, can we just tell you how surprised and honored we were when we received an email last night that our images had been selected to be featured? Yes, you read that right. Images. Not one, but TWO of our couples in the print version, and a third in the online version. Our minds are completely blown. Completely. We can’t even believe that a few of our images have been selected to be featured right alongside some of the best photographers in the nation. We’ve already gone online and seen the digital version, and cannot wait to get our physical copy in the mail any day now!
