When we were planning their session, Marcela and Brent made it very clear to us that they loved bright colors and Kansas City’s urban neighborhoods. They knew for sure that they didn’t want their photos taken in a park or field anywhere, but that they really wanted to show their love for Westport in their engagement photos, and if the weather allowed, a beautiful sunset. Since we knew that they wanted to go to one of Kansas City’s busiest neighborhoods we knew that we needed to plan well, and go on a weekday evening so it wouldn’t be as busy. We lucked out, and didn’t have to fight any crowds. Marcela wore the perfect yellow shoes for their dip photo in the middle of the street, and this ended up being one of their favorites from their session, and the image they decided to order a canvas of to go over their sofa. We love Westport in general, and we love shooting there, but it’s not always the most photogenic background with all of the bars and extra cars. We shot around everything and still got the feeling of the neighborhood by using a lot of the brickwork on the sides and backs of the buildings, and love the ivy covered brick alley that we all stumbled into.
After Westport we went to one of our favorite spots for sunset, and we’re so glad we changed spots at the last minute! The colors in the sky were killer, and these are some of our favorite images from their session. I mean really – it was absolutely beautiful, and we were all amazed by the rich orange and red colors. It almost worked more to our advantage that the trees were bare because we got to see the beautiful colors through the branches. Right after we got the last shot, Marcela and Brent high-fived to “rocking our engagement session!” Here are just some of our favorites from their engagement session – enjoy!
