The minute we started talking with Kelli and Tyler about their Crossroads engagement session, Kelli immediately asked if we could go to the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City. It’s one of her absolute favorite buildings in Kansas City, and she loves everything about it. She told us she didn’t care which side of the building we used, but that she knew she wanted her engagement photos there.
With every engagement session we always try to do two contrasting locations so that everyone’s pictures aren’t the same. Since the Kauffman Center is very modern, we wanted to incorporate some greenery, and something more urban. Kelli and Tyler love the Crossroads District in Kansas City, and all of the different graffiti that’s in some of the alleyways. After some scouting we found a great complimentary location for their engagement session that they were so excited about!
We always suggest to our clients that we start their engagement session about two hours before sunset. Just before sunset we moved from the Crossroads District to the Kauffman Center, and caught a gorgeous sunset at Kauffman. We shot just past dusk, and man – the Kauffman Center really lit up for us!
One of our favorite images is from the last set of images, just before we finished their session. Since there was a performance happening at The Kauffman Center, the inside of the building was completely lit up! We knew it would be a neat photo, and when we saw the final image, we absolutely fell in love! This ended up being one of Kelli and Tyler’s favorites as well!
