Johnna & Jeff's Modern Kansas City Wedding
Johnna and Jeff knew from the beginning that they didn’t want their wedding to be like every other wedding that they’ve gone to in Kansas City. They did know they wanted a different, fun, and modern Kansas City wedding day. A wedding day that all of their friends and family would remember for years to come. Not just because it was their wedding day, but because they enjoyed themselves that much.
Their thoughts reflected what we’ve seen a lot of lately here in Kansas City. A bigger emphasis put on guest experience instead of the number of people invited. They wanted to be sure that everyone was relaxed and enjoyed themselves completely. To do that, their first step was to hire a planner. Someone that they knew they could count on to help execute their vision for their big day. They also wanted someone to handle all of the little details for them, so they didn’t have to worry about it. They found this person in Whitney, of Confetti Events. Whitney was amazing for Jeff and Johnna to work with, and we had a blast getting to know her as well.
Johnna and Jeff’s next step was to think about their reception entertainment. They knew they loved the feel and excitement a band provided over a DJ. They would up bringing one of Johnna’s favorite bands from St. Louis in to play at their wedding, Mirage.
These guys thought of everything! From transportation for their wedding party, to an end of the night Taco Truck and everything in between. Instead of doing a traditional plate meal or buffet line, Johnna and Jeff had stations at their reception: Asian, Italian, and BBQ. Each table had a few bottles of wine on it from Johnna’s favorite wineries in Herrman.
One of our favorite moments from their whole wedding day was their first dance. Johnna and Jeff had previously told us they were planning a choreographed first dance to surprise their friends and family with. Just before we entered their reception, they asked if they could stop to practice just one more time before the real thing. We stopped just up the street from their reception venue at The Kansas City Star Building. In addition to a few of our favorite images, Johnna and Jeff also practiced their dance. It was so sweet! They nailed it during their reception, and their loved ones couldn’t have been more surprised and impressed.
Thank you, Jeff and Johnna, so much for letting us be there to capture your wedding day! We had so much fun and are so excited for the next part of your journey together!
