Arelys & DJ's Fall Swope Park Memorial Wedding
I think that by now you have a pretty good idea that we absolutely love creating images for our clients. Photographing engagements and weddings for our couples is such a personal, humbling experience, and we LOVE every minute of it. We get the opportunity over and over again to work with some amazing people. They let us into their lives and we get to meet their families, kiddos, pets, and closest friends. It’s safe to say that we get pretty attached!
Arelys and DJ’s wedding day was so special to us. Not only is her sister one of the very first weddings we photographed, but these two trusted us completely with their wedding day. We got to meet and hang out with them and their kiddos planning their wedding day. We traveled to Colorado together last spring for their engagement session. And we knew just how important and what a milestone their wedding day was for them. It’s such a big honor when our couples ask us to photograph their weddings, and it’s something that we take so seriously and wrap ourselves up in completely.
From the very beginning of the day to the very end, it’s safe to say that our whole team had “all the feels.” Arelys and DJ’s wedding was SO romantic, and we are SO excited to share it with you!
Getting Ready Location: Sheraton Suites Country Club Plaza
Arelys, her bridesmaids and family got ready at the Sheraton Suites on the Plaza. DJ, his groomsmen and family did the same. I know that we mentioned that we love it when our couples get ready at the same location, but especially these two. This gave their friends and family, and their kids, a chance to see each of them before their ceremony. And trust us, there wasn’t a dull moment, and barely a dry eye all morning!
Wedding Ceremony Venue: Swope Park Memorial
Arelys and DJ chose not to do a first look, but to see each other as Arelys walked down the aisle to DJ. One of our favorite moments from their whole day was watching Arelys walk up behind DJ as he was getting ready to escort his mom down the aisle. After a simple, sweet ceremony, this happy couple was married with lots of celebration!
DJ knew that he wanted images with a classic car, and he rented a classic Rolls Royce to take him and his bride to meet their wedding party for pictures.

To stick with their classic, elegant and romantic wedding day, pictures of Arelys and DJ’s wedding party happened at The Nelson. We love that we’re able to go to the Nelson and find a new spot to shoot in every time!
Wedding Reception Venue: Simply Unique Events
Arelys and DJ held their reception at Simply Unique Events in Shawnee. Surrounded by family and friends, they ate, drank, and danced the night away.
